Before your first consultation with Dr Briggs, you will be asked to complete a Patient Registration & Medical Questionnaire Form that will be sent to you via email or post. This form will enable Dr Briggs to collect important medical information; including your previous medical history and current medications as well as your contact details.
If you are contemplating surgery with Dr Briggs, please note that there are specific requirements in place. As of July 1st, 2023, you will need to attend two appointments with Dr Briggs and observe a 7-day cooling off period before proceeding to schedule your surgery. These steps are in line with the current regulations to ensure that you have ample time to make an informed decision about your surgical journey.
During your initial consultation with Dr Briggs, he will conduct a comprehensive review of your medical history. Following that, Dr Briggs will perform a thorough examination to evaluate your unique requirements and determine your suitability for the desired surgery. This initial consultation typically lasts around 30 minutes.
In addition, you will have the opportunity to view before and after photographs showcasing the outcomes of previous patients. Dr Briggs will also provide you with informative patient information sheets that outline the specifics of the discussed surgery. It is essential that you carefully read these materials and take note of any questions or concerns you may have, which you can address during your subsequent consultation with Dr Briggs.
After Your First Consultation
If after your first consultation you decide you want to continue your journey towards surgery, you will need to schedule a second consultation appointment. This allows you to address any additional questions or concerns you may have. Prior to this appointment, Dr Brigg’s team will provide you with a written quotation detailing the surgical costs. This quote is valid for one year.
Dr Briggs is committed to ensuring clear and comprehensive communication, ensuring that every procedure is explained in a manner that is easy to understand and leaves you fully informed.
In addition to the consultations, we encourage you to review the information we have provided, which includes valuable guidelines to assist you in choosing your surgeon and understanding their training and qualifications. This will further empower you in making informed decisions regarding your surgical journey.
Do I need a Referral?
In the past, patients could directly schedule an appointment with Dr Briggs without a referral from a General Practitioner (GP) or other medical professional. However, due to new regulations implemented by the Medical Board of Australia, effective from July 1, individuals seeking cosmetic surgery will now require a referral from either a General Practitioner (GP) or Medical Specialist.
These new regulations also require surgeons to conduct screenings to identify any underlying psychological conditions that may affect a patient’s suitability for cosmetic procedures.
In order to apply for cover by Medicare or private health fund a current referral is also necessary.
