What is Brow Lift Surgery?
Brow Lift Surgery is an invasive surgical procedure that helps many people achieve a rejuvenated facial appearance. It improves the aesthetic position of the eyelids by restoring the proportional relationship between the eye and brow, thus improving the overall appearance of your face.
Low eyebrows can be an inherent or acquired facial feature. A combination of genetics, gravity, lifestyle factors, sun exposure, and other environmental interactions can leave you looking older than you feel.
The position of the eyebrows can greatly change the overall look of the face.
As we age, our eyebrows drop as a result of natural ageing due to connective tissue weakness and loss of subcutaneous adipose tissue in the temporal region.
Although we don’t think about it, the look of the face on which the eyebrows are raised is interpreted as cheerful, energetic, and fresh, while the face with lowered eyebrows looks tired. This is the main reason why more and more people are opting for this procedure.
This surgical procedure is popular with both men and women. Furthermore, this procedure can easily be done in conjunction with other rejuvenating facial procedures.
Am I a Good Candidate for Brow Lift?
Candidates for Brow Lift surgery are usually people over the age of 40 who experience:
- Asymmetrical eyebrows
- Droopy or low-hanging brow appearance
- Horizontal wrinkles in the eyebrow area
- Concern about their upper facial appearance due to brow position
- An older facial appearance due to their brow position
- A tired-looking face
- Good overall health
- Good healing capacity and healthy, resilient skin
- Realistic expectations and a positive outlook
Benefits of Brow Lift Surgery
Brow Lift Surgery raises your eyebrows by a few millimeters which is usually enough to achieve a fresh and cheerful facial look.
After the surgery, patients feel younger and happier with their new appearance. Thanks to the quick and easy recovery process, Brow Lift is often combined with non-surgical treatments to further improve the results.

Brow Lift Surgical Procedure
A Brow Lift can be a stand-alone Surgical Procedure or in addition to other facial rejuvenation procedures such as Face Lifting or Mini Face Lifting.
The goal of the operation is to raise the lowered eyebrows by removing the excess skin and fatty tissue, and proper lifting and positioning.
The Specialist Surgeon will make several small incisions along the hairline, so the scarring is almost invisible and will gradually fade away as you heal.
An endoscope is inserted, in conjunction with special instruments to separate the forehead soft tissue and skin from the underlying bone. The surgeon will then lift the skin of the eyebrows and forehead to achieve the goal, and close the incisions with sutures.
Repositioned skin is now tightened, and the brows are lifted.

Recovery After Brow Lift Surgery
Recovery varies from patient to patient. However, Brow Lift Surgery is considered one of the easier facial rejuvenation procedures to recover from.
Immediately after the surgery, your surgeon will wrap your forehead to minimize the swelling. Your surgeon may also use small drainage to drain any excess blood or fluid. Removal of these drains typically occurs a few days after your surgery.
You may experience some swelling around the incision area but it usually subsides within a few days.
To reduce complications and minimize swelling, your surgeon will recommend that you sleep with your head and shoulders at an angle. You can accomplish this by sleeping with a few pillows behind your head and shoulders.
Applying cold compresses can also help reduce bruising, swelling, and pain.
However, you should avoid saunas, pools, and dying your hair for at least a few weeks.
Return to daily activities and work is possible immediately after removing the sutures, approximately 7-8 days after surgery.
Minimising Scars after Brow Surgery
It is important to remember that all surgical procedures leave scars, including ‘so-called’ scarless methods.
Experienced plastic surgeons are extremely careful about scar placement and minimisation, with surgical scars generally fading over time with most scars being barely visible after 12 months.
We will arrange weekly post-op appointments with our specialist nursing team after your procedure to ensure everything is healing well and to monitor your progress.
You will see your surgeon and/or nurse and/or dermal team about six to eight weeks later for a scar consultation and organise scar minimisation treatments.
The Coco Ruby dermal team conducts a series of follow-up scar treatments using a customised selection of Skin Needling, Healite II LED and massaging with oils, Fraxel Laser, V-Laser, Silicone strips & gels and Steroids can also help minimise scars. Ask the Coco Ruby Team!
Note – The length of your recovery period will depend on your procedure and your health and lifestyle factors. Recovery times can vary from person to person – resting helps healing.
Please avoid subjecting your incision to abrasion or excessive stresses during the recovery period.
